Final SPOT and assignments are all done and I feel so relieved! I can't believe how quickly final exams are approaching because it feels like we just had midterms a few weeks ago. I'm starting to feel the pressure to study for all my exams, and I hope I have enough time to review all the material. I am especially nervous for the anatomy exam since there are going to be a lot of diagrams and tables on the exam. However, I am not too scared for health and healing or praxis, I have a feeling they will not be too difficult. Currently, my only motivation is knowing that the holidays are approaching and I will have almost a month to relax and not open one single textbook or write any papers. It's all too exciting to think about!
Technology is helping when it comes to overcoming barriers in health care. Technology is taking over many health care institutions and alleviating a lot of the workloads and stress that nurses are forced to deal with. Many machines now have the ability to take vital signs, document results, communicate with other physicians, display charts, etc. This is giving nurses some “down time” to relax a bit because they do not have to take on as much responsibility and perform as many tasks as they had to previously. Also, technological advancements have been able to diagnose health problems in babies before they are even born, or diagnose diseases early so that they can hopefully be treated before they become severe. With technology advancing so rapidly who knows what will happen next!
Today has not been the most relaxing day. I was working on my final blog this morning in my information and communication technology class trying to add other classmates URL's to my blog list. However, my blog would not allow me to add any URL's to my blog, which made it very stressful and frustrating for me. Also, when classmates tried to add my blog to their blog list, my blog was said to be 'non-existent'. I have been struggling to fix this problem all this morning, however, I have had no luck. This ruined most of my morning because I was trying to fix these problems with my blog, but I soon gave up and decided to create a new blog. Nonetheless, I feel much better that I have a new blog that works, and that I have been able to relieve a lot of stress by writing down my issues into this blog!
Here's a video that talks about how to deal with stress!
Can you believe it? First semester is almost over and Christmas holidays are quickly approaching! I am very glad that I have had the opportunity to meet so many people who share the same goals and outlooks as me, as well as learn many new techniques and skills that I can use in my nursing practice. I am extremely excited about clinical next semester, and I can't wait to gain some experience working in a nursing home. Practicum class has been very interesting, especially when I get the opportunity to work with the simulation dummies. However, the dummies still lack many human traits, which is why I am anticipating working in a real hospital setting with real people because I know it will be a much different experience. The only aspect I am not looking forward to next semester is getting up very early and having to drive for half an hour, but I know clinical will be well worth it! I can't wait to see what the rest of the semester has to offer, and I am looking forward to Christmas holidays!
My name is Jane and I am a first year nursing student. I am very passionate about nursing, and in the future I would love to work in the field of geriatrics with the elderly. Lately, life has been stressful because of the heavy workloads of assignments and readings that I have to keep up with. This is my first time creating a blog, and it has allowed me to unleash my creative side. I have viewed many other fascinating blogs over the years, and I am glad that I have the opportunity and the time to create my very own. I hope you all enjoy it, and I will do my best to keep everyone updated. Please feel free to add comments!
